Re-entry is rarely something folks consider when they’re on the foster care journey. Mostly because, the statistics of families who stop fostering, or suspend their license, and never return are greater than those who take a break and then jump back in later on. But how do you successfully re-enter the system when you’ve been away from it for a while? That’s what we’re covering on today’s episode of the podcast.

• Find support for you. You will need it as you navigate the ups and downs of the system, especially if things have changed since you last fostered.
• Have knowledge of the system, and of yourself. Make sure you know your limitations and have strong boundaries in place.
• Find support for your biological children, or children you’ve adopted. They will be right in the mix of everything your family will go through as you get back into fostering. Make sure you are intentional about supporting them, and giving them time.
• Have a plan in place. Make sure you have covered things like safety for you, your children, and the child you are caring for.
