Is Everyone Called To Be A Foster Parent?

Season 4, Episode 30- The Honestly Speaking Parenting Podcast

Over the past few months we’ve received lots of emails and Facebook comments asking these questions… “Is everyone called to be a foster parent? Should I become one? Am I called to do it?” The initial response, based on the major need we see around our country, in particular, is a resounding yes. But not everyone is equipped to be a hands-on foster parent. Some people just don’t have the capacity to or cannot handle the exhaustion that often comes with this journey. So, what should they do? Where does that leave them? We answer these questions in today’s episode…

Notes and Quotes from The Show.

In today’s episode we shared several strong take-aways. Here are some of our favorites.

Kristin answers the big question right off the bat:

While we’d like to think that everyone is equipped to be a hands-on foster parent, it’s not true and it often leads to failure. Later on, Kristin also shared this perspective…

We love this truth that Nicole shared, when it comes to relating to and dealing with birth families…

One of the truths we hold true to on this journey, especially when it comes to relating to birth families, case managers, or really anybody, is from the Bible. Mike shares this in the middle of the episode…
