Is Fostering-To-Adopt The Right Path For Us? [Podcast]

Every week we receive questions through email and our Facebook Page, inquiring about fostering-to-adopt and whether it’s the right avenue for families to adopt. On today’s episode we talk specifically about the ins and outs of this form of adoption.

Podcast Art-Episode 17.001

In 2004 we began our foster care journey but we had no idea how that would shape the landscape of our family. Six out of our 8 children were adopted from the foster care system. As we stand on the other side of 12 years, we marvel at the amazing story our family’s life is telling the world. We couldn’t have scripted it better. Fostering-to-adopt can be extremely difficult at times, but it’s also one of the most amazing journeys of all time.

In today’s episode we share an interview we did with Joe and Jana Robbins, who are fellow adoptive parents, and former foster parents. What we love most about the Robbins is their amazing heart for their family and the positive light they share fostering-to-adopt in. They capture the reality but also the beauty of this form of adoption…

Great podcast! You mentioned that there are resources for post-adoptive parents/children. Can you give examples of these resources (I was told of none) and how we find them? Also, I agree with wishing I had asked more questions, but I didn’t even know the questions to ask. (Maybe a good topic for another podcast.) y

    • Hey Lynn, so great to hear that you liked the episode. Most of the resources are online- NoFAS.org is a great site for understanding FASD. That’s national too. Another is AdoptUSKids.org. They have pretty good post-adoptive material. Not sure where you’re located but doing a quick Google Search will bring up lots of options.
