Every now and then I (Mike) will venture off the parenting, marriage and family path to write about something miscellaneous, but valuable! Today's post is just that. However, I wouldn't do this unless the content I was sharing was life-changing!

I almost deleted the email. After all, I had received several “extra” emails in the course of a little more than a week. They weren’t from an unknown person or anything. I was quite familiar with the sender. His name was Jeff Goins. All I really knew about Jeff was that he was an author and blogger, two things I identified with because I was aspiring to be an author and I had just launched this blog a year earlier.

I subscribed to Jeff’s blog because his approach was simple- You are a writer! Frankly, I needed that encouragement. I was a recovering “self-doubter!” Jeff was admittedly the same so I identified with him immediately. I loved his honesty and straight-to-the-point approach. Plus, he was several steps ahead of me in creating content that reached across the globe and changed people’s lives. That was my heart for Confessions Of A Parent!

After a few days I decided to open one of the extra emails and read through it. That decision changed my life and my whole approach to writing. The email introduced me to Tribe Writers, an online writing course, by Jeff, that helps people find their unique writing voice and create content that changes lives. It was exactly what I needed for this blog, but also myself.

Why?

Because years earlier, when I came up with the idea for Confessions Of A Parent, I did so with one big purpose- I wanted to create something that brought hope, humor and restoration to overwhelmed, stressed out, and exhausted parents around the world! It seemed like an impossible mission. Really, how could I, a nobody living in the middle of Indiana, launch a blog and write stuff that transformed people’s lives? Heck, how could I even get people to read it?

Tribe Writers answered all of that and more! It not only helped me find my voice, but it helped me build a powerful platform that reaches parents around the world today. In a little over 3 years, Confessions Of A Parent has gone from an idea to a blog that’s read by hundreds of thousands of people, in 14 different countries, every month. In 2014, nearly 1 million people have read Confessions. Last month, we were blown away that a staggering 540,000+ readers logged on.

More than these amazing numbers, Tribe Writers has helped us become confident of who we are, and what we’re supposed to be doing with our lives. We are writers! That’s what we’re called to do. We are helping to change people’s lives every day through the honest words we write. Tribe Writers is worth every penny you will spend, I promise. Our blog is living proof. We are reaching thousands of families every month through our words and our platform. It’s our dream. It’s our passion!

As I write this post, my heart is filled with thankfulness that I opened Jeff’s email, back in the day, announcing Tribe Writers. It changed my life then, and continues to change my life to this day.
